How to be Involved
Whether you live on the lower cape or visit here once or twice a year, you can be a part of our spiritual community. We often need ushers and greeters before the Sunday service. Frequently during the service we will inform you of events and projects you can join, from discussion groups to dinners for the AIDS Support Group, concerts and potlucks.
Groups and Events
We are busy throughout the off-season with potlucks, games nights, our annual talent show and other events. In the fall, we also attend to the business of the congregation, with our Pledge drive and Annual Meeting. By winter, we are free to coordinate our beautiful Unitarian Candlelight Christmas Eve service which celebrates the worth and beauty of each new child through the story of Jesus' birth. It is a community favorite and like all our services, open to all.
We also have a number of committees needing your help that provide you with a way to contribute something meaningful and use your own special skills and abilities in the company of some great people. You can be actively involved in the life of our community without becoming a member. Although unable to vote or sit on the Board of Trustees, our Kindred Spirits share in all of our aims and activities, from singing in the choir and serving on committees to supporting us financially. We hope you'll join us.
We also have periodic adult classes and discussion groups. Past topics have included "Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth," "Building Your Own Theology," and "Our Unitarian Universalist Story," as well as discussions of the book "What is Marriage For?" by E.J. Graff and Karen Armstrong's book "A History of God."
